This study examines the effect of the non-face-to-face real-time cognitive activity book play program on cognitive function and depression of the elderly in senior day care centers. The subjects of the study were 26 people from the two centers located in E-gu, Seoul, and 15 people in the experimental group went through a 10-session program derived from a preliminary study. Two measurement tools were used: the Cognitive Impairment Screening Test (CIST) and the Korean version of the Short form of Geriatric Depression Scale (SGDS-K).
As a result of the study, there were significant positive changes in memory (p<.01), language ability (p<.05), and depression scale (p<.05).
The non-face-to-face real-time cognitive activity book play program is meaningful in that it presented a model that can be continuously operated in a social distancing situation caused by COVID-19.
